I could stare at these mountains all day.
We returned to this location a few times during our trip to Iceland and each time, the weather presented new conditions for us to observe.

I sat here for an hour watching the waves, the clouds; then the sun kissed the sea and I continued to watch the waves and clouds as the last light crept beneath the horizon. It was a beautiful evening.
The Vestrahorn Mountains, in Southern Iceland, during blue hour.
I had low expectations for this sunset last weekend. A friend had invited me to meet up that morning but the cloud cover was thick and the wind was blowing vigorously along the coast. I went to the beach with the intentions of hanging out and catching up more than shooting, but miraculously, the clouds began to clear just as the sun began to near the horizon.
Nature has some incredible healing qualities. There's something about fresh air, your toes in the sand, leaves rustling in every direction, critters dancing around your feet and the open sky above your head that creates a sort of natural high.
Watching this sunset being painted in the sky was magical. I had been spying on the clouds all afternoon and hoped it would unfold like it did. When I arrived at the beach, I was shocked to see I was the only person on the sand.
Point Arena, California
Spent 3 days last weekend exploring the beautiful Northern California coastline for the first time. Throughout most of the trip, the sky was filled with clouds, but it was still warm, beautiful, relaxing and perfect for long exposure photography.

Blue hour at Lake Tahoe, California
For me, blue hour is usually the most magical time of day. I can always use a little "magicalness" on a Monday morning.
On this particular night in March, +Tran Mai and I decided to grab dinner before shooting Sutro Baths for sunset. Dinner lasted longer than expected and we arrived here with about 15 minutes to spare. As soon as the sun went down, we were joined by +Hillary Fox, who was in town. I opened the shutter while we were talking and watching the waves.

Solana Beach Sunset, 12/29/12.
Went down to the beach with my Dad, while visiting for the holidays, to watch the sunset and wound up spending most of the shoot dodging sneaky waves. It was worth it.
This was the sunset from Yerba Buena Island last night. It was definitely the most amazing sunset I've photographed.

Big Sur, California. Jan 2012.
Since my last exploring trip to the South in October, I haven't shot many abandoned locations, which means that I'm running low on new urban decay images to post. Interestingly enough, I have a dozen or so landscape images fighting for time on G+.
I met up with a few photographers in Santa Cruz for a photowalk on Saturday. We had a great morning shooting in the redwoods, but I wasn't able to stay for the sunset. I began the drive home on Hwy 1 and made a quick stop at the lighthouse when I noticed the sky collecting color.
