On a fall trip to Colorado a few years ago, I stopped to paddle board to this amazing canyon. It was just under 4 miles from the launch to these canyon walls, but before I made it here, I wound through the narrow cliffs and watched the textures and colors of the geology change as I navigated deeper into this beautiful canyon.

This road led me to you
wide-eyed and waiting
for love to let you escape.
Photo: "Mount Hood Winter"
Taken last February when I visited Oregon and went on a snow hike with my friend Brian Bonham.
Looking forward to making another return visit to the Pacific Northwest in a few weeks.

Photo: "A Little Love"
With a little of your love,
I can retract
and backtrack
to here
and I'll try.
It's not forgiving,
it's now
I'm here
show me how
and I'll try
to give you a little of my love.
Photo: "Goodbye... For Now"
I realize this photo is nothing spectacular, but the feeling I get while staring into this image evokes amazing memories from an unforgettable journey.
This was taken on my last hour in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado last month. Casey, Tony and I had spent many days exploring 4x4 trails, the backroads of the San Juan mountains, waking up surrounded by only nature and solitude each morning. It was hard to say goodbye and as I drove down this highway one last time, the clouds opened up and put on a lovely light show for me as if to say, "Goodbye for now. I know you will be back soon."
Photo: "Line Of Sight"
Ever feel like you can't breathe
then you wash over me
I need an escape
you're the light
don't stop, not tonight
and I'm never going to leave your side.
Photo: "A Paused Breath"
I had never been inside an ice cave until I went to Iceland earlier this year. It was a surreal experience being feet below the ice; one that took a while to grasp. Watching it melt and travel beneath your feet, it was hard not to think about the impacts of Global Warming.
Photo: "Snow-Capped"
Last week I returned from an incredible week in Colorado, exploring 4x4 trails and the lesser seen parts of the San Juans.
The higher elevations saw a light dusting of snow a few days before we arrived, which gave the landscape a beautiful glow.
This 4x4 trail led us past a ghost town and mine before winding up to this mountain top.
Photo: "In Broken"
It can try to break you,
overbear and control
every inch of you gives in
then you pay for what others lack,
but your soul cries for more
when you focus the light
after opening your eyes
you see the stars up close.
Photo: "Paintbrush Sky"
This country is amazing.
Seeing landscapes with a fresh blanket of snow while the Northern Lights danced for 6 nights in a row definitely helped Iceland earn some extra bonus points.
Someday I hope to return...
Photo: "Currents"
I could stare at these mountains all day.
We returned to this location a few times during our trip to Iceland and each time, the weather presented new conditions for us to observe.
Photo: "Tightrope"
Take my hand
lead me to you
close your eyes
hold on
hold on
find the tightrope
don't let go of the night
it's far
it's far
down
don't let go
close your eyes
free fall into me
now.
Photo: "Iceland Snowscapes"
A few days before we landed in Iceland, the country experienced a heavy storm that blew in fresh snow.
Our first afternoon there, a few more inches of snow fell and we were presented a beautiful blanket of white.
Photo: "The Tail End"
I sat here for an hour watching the waves, the clouds; then the sun kissed the sea and I continued to watch the waves and clouds as the last light crept beneath the horizon. It was a beautiful evening.
