This road led me to you
wide-eyed and waiting
for love to let you escape.
Photo: "Reclaim"
I still believe there is beauty in decay. It may not always be kind or fair, but there is something peculiarly peaceful about the earth reclaiming something natural or man-made.
Photo: "Goodbye... For Now"
I realize this photo is nothing spectacular, but the feeling I get while staring into this image evokes amazing memories from an unforgettable journey.
This was taken on my last hour in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado last month. Casey, Tony and I had spent many days exploring 4x4 trails, the backroads of the San Juan mountains, waking up surrounded by only nature and solitude each morning. It was hard to say goodbye and as I drove down this highway one last time, the clouds opened up and put on a lovely light show for me as if to say, "Goodbye for now. I know you will be back soon."
Photo: "A Wreck Among Trees"
The San Juan Mountains in Colorado are speckled with hundreds of mines. I wish I had the time to photograph and explore them all...
Photo: "Backroad Gold"
The backroads of Colorado unturned a number of old, abandoned mines, most in a state of natural decay without much human influence.
Photo: "Snow-Capped"
Last week I returned from an incredible week in Colorado, exploring 4x4 trails and the lesser seen parts of the San Juans.
The higher elevations saw a light dusting of snow a few days before we arrived, which gave the landscape a beautiful glow.
This 4x4 trail led us past a ghost town and mine before winding up to this mountain top.
